Qatargas held a special Open Day for high school graduate nationals aimed at recruiting talented Qatari nationals to the Qatargas Technical Preparation Program (TPP).
The Open Day was held as part of ‘Hayyakum’, an ongoing recruitment – oriented outreach program that aims to ignite interest amongst National talent, in pursuing careers in the LNG Industry with Qatargas.
The event, held at the Qatargas Doha Head Office, attracted a number of young Qatari high school graduates. Members of Qatargas Human Resources, Learning & Development, Operations and Maintenance teams welcomed the participants and explained details of the program and the advantages and learning opportunities involved.
TPP is a three-year technical program tailored for Qatargas’ needs. It is a combination of two learning methods - offsite training (theoretical) delivered at College of North Atlantic and practical, also known as Work Place Learning (WPL) at Qatargas facilities (operations plants and maintenance workshops) in Ras Laffan. The program is conducted with the contribution of the respective departments ‘On-the-Job Training’ teams. The objective of the program is to prepare young Qatari nationals for key technical positions in the various divisions of Qatargas’ Operations and Maintenance Departments.
The ‘Open Day’ had been publicized through newspaper adverts and social media. Posters were distributed at local schools to advertise event. In addition, Qatargas’ National employees also used their own network to publicize the campaign amongst family and friends.
The ‘Hayyakum’ campaign was launched in 2014 and each Hayyakum campaign targets Qatargas National recruitment requirements by focusing activities in partnership with the various departments, to attract students.
